Kaydence Cothran Official Site

Hello!

My name is Kaydence Cothran. I am a junior in high school from Oklahoma, and I have been competing in hunter/jumper competitions across the country for the past 10 years. I got my start on a green large hunter pony at 6 years old—“Lightning”—and together we had a great hunter career, winning Reserve Champion in the 10 and Under division at USEF Pony Finals in 2019.
At age 9, I began my career in the jumper divisions, riding both green and experienced horses along the way.

I’ve had the opportunity to ride various horses and have excelled in everything from the Low Children’s Jumper division up to the Grand Prix level, all while training a beautiful sale horse in the hunter ring. These amazing horses helped me earn the USEF 2021 Horse of the Year honor in the Low Children’s division, along with multiple state and individual show championships in the High Children’s division.

In 2022, I was fortunate to move up to the Low Junior division with “Ghianti,” placing Reserve Champion at our first two shows at that height. I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunities I’ve had in this sport—riding wonderful horses and continuing to grow in a sport I feel so lucky to be part of.

In 2023, I was honored to be selected for a Zone 7 Jumper Team in the 1.20/1.25m and the Platinum 1.30/1.35m divisions. That same year, at age 14, I competed in my first Grand Prix. Since then, I’ve had multiple top placings in the Grand Prix ring with my incredible horse, “Wonder Z.”

In 2024, had the amazing opportunity to start a new partnership with “Onslow.” We formed an incredible bond in the short time I had him. At our first show together, we came home with a win in the 1.30/1.35m Jr/Am Classic, along with the division championship. I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2024 holds. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to train under incredible people and have the best horses by my side.
